Today our amazing baby is nine months old.
Today our amazing baby is nine months old.
Her 9 month doctor visit was a very good one. At 29 inches tall, she is 90th percentile height for 9 month old baby girls. She got a perfect score on her developmental checklist, as if there was any doubt.
She is so smart. So healthy. Tall. Beautiful.
Perfect.
What good did I do in my life to deserve this magnificient angel? I will never understand how I am so lucky.
All I can do is try to give her the best life anyone has ever lived.
Look at this beauty.

Today Miss Baby learned to play the "cup game", where you hide the ball under one of three cups, and the move them around. She can find the ball with 100% accuracy. Granted, you have to be slow and not like some sort of New York City street hustler, but it's still pretty good!

Grandpa and Elizabeth started learning about noses, ears, mouth, and eyes today. She sat transfixed, as though she were deeply involved in a riveting lecture about nuclear physics.

This morning was a hilarious comedy of errors. When we wake up in the mornings, we go down to the couch to cuddle. Whilst sitting on the couch, I noticed my leg felt warm, so I concluded she had just peed. Nothing out of the ordinary. Except not only was my leg warm, but also wet. What? So, I proceeded over to the changing station, where I noticed that, somehow in the course of the night, the left side of her diaper came undone, so she was effectively wearing half of a diaper.
"Right! To the tub!" I thought. So, we headed upstairs to quickly draw a bath to wash her off, since I didn't want dried pee pee on her legs. When one draws a bath, Elizabeth likes to stand at the side of the tub and excitedly watch. I figured this would only take a few moments, and she had already peed, so I didn't try to put a new diaper on her, or even fix the existing half-way-off diaper. Big mistake.
As Liz stood by the tub side, watching the tub fill with water, she peed again. And peed and peed and peed. And she still had her jammies on, so it was all over her jammie legs, creating a nice puddle at her feet. All I could do was laugh. Silly Mommy, you should've taken the 2 seconds to do her diaper up! So, I use our already wet jammies to mop up the pee puddle. Fine, all is well.
I get her into the bath, and get her washed off. As I go to take her out, I notice that she has a toy in her hand. Fine, as she always takes a toy out of the bath with her What I didn't notice is that it isn't a toy at all, it's her rinsing cup, which is full of water. So, as I grab her out, she proceeds to dump the entire rinsing cup full of water all over the bathroom floor. I'm cracking up by this point. Can this get any funnier?!
Once we get dried off (people and floor), I get her into a new pair of jammies. All is well. Until less than 30 minutes later, when a Level 10 Poop went up her back, and led to the third pair of the jammies of the day.
And it wasn't even 7:00 am yet. :o)
After just 2 days of learning, Elizabeth can now point to Mommy's nose and mouth without help. She has also learned, in one day, how to do "so big!", where she holds her arms up above her head when hearing the word "big".
She will also "share" her toy cookies with you. If you ask her for a bite, she will smile widely, and put the cookie in your open mouth.
February 13, 2012
She learned a new noise this morning, how to click her tongue against her mouth. The entire way to be dropped off with Grandma and Grandpa, I heard "click, click, click" from the backseat. :o)
She fell asleep, humming to herself, riding on Grandpa's shoulders.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Every Grandparent wonders what name their grandchildren will call them. For me, one set of my grandparents was "Gooy and Pa". For Liz, it's "Yaya and Ed". Whenever she wants her Grandpa, she tilts her head up, opens that little mouth, and bellows for "Ed!". For Grandma, she yells "Yayayayayaya!"
Grandpa Ed bought her a wagon for Christmas, that she loves. He has fashioned a seat belt out of a bungee cord, to keep her from climbing out. She knows that the bungee cord must be affixed before she can be pulled around in it. So, when getting into the wagon today, she grabbed the bungee cord, pulled it across her lap, and attempted to figure out how to secure it. She is so perceptive.
February 16, 2012
Elizabeth said "Hi", whilst waving, to Yaya today. Her sweet little tiny voice is musical.
February 17, 2012
This baby is amazing! She was having a bath with Yaya and Ed today and, without ever being taught how, leaned forward, put her face in the water, and started blowing bubbles. On her own. No instruction. No prompting. Have I mentioned she loves the water? Swim lessons start soon; I guess we'll have a leg up! :o)

I think I've mentioned a time or two how much she loves being outside. She has started getting REALLY excited when she sees her coat, because she knows it means OUTSIDE. Yaya and Ed leave her coat hanging in the same place every day. Today she walked over, grabbed the coat off of it's hanging place, and took it into the room where Yaya and Ed were sitting. She wanted out! At the end of the day, we went to the park to play.
Friday night, Daddy and Liz were playing. There was a book laying on the other side of the room. He said "Go get the book and give it to Daddy." She went over, got the book, brought it back to Daddy, and put it in his hand. I am so proud of her ability to follow commands, and more than that, how you can tell her something one time and she knows exactly what you are saying.
February 18, 2012
She has started saying "buh buh buh" when she waves bye-bye. We all (Mommy, Daddy, Yaya and Ed) went and had lunch at a Mexican place today. As before, she REALLY like guacamole and refried beans. Yum yum! Before we left, we played outside a little bit more.

Daddy left this morning for a week in California, so we went over to Yaya and Ed's for the day. We played and played and played until she couldn't take it anymore, and slept more soundly at night than possibly she ever has in her life.
February 20, 2012
Before bed, Liz and I were talking to each other. She'd say "ba", and I'd say it back. She'd whisper "ba", and I'd whisper it back. This back and forth game was quite possibly the funniest thing ever, and she would absolutely crack up after every few back and forths. It was so much fun!
February 22, 2012
Lizzy's new favorite game is a spirited game of chase! Someone (typically Grandpa) will chase after her, while she RUNS (as fast as those little legs will carry her) away from the chaser, turning every few steps to see if she is still being followed. This game gets such huge reaction from her. She does what can only be described as a "scream laugh", where she is so excited her laugh comes out as an excited scream. I treasure every moment of love and play with this fun little baby.

Today at work, a co-worker who hadn't seen any photos of Elizabeth was told by other co-workers she simply must stop by to see the photos of my beautiful baby. Apparently, Elizabeth's beauty is a topic of conversation around the office. This is astonishing to me.
I sometimes take for granted how beautiful she, is until another person points it out. Or how developmentally advanced she is, until a health care provide or educator points out that she is doing things that "normal" 9-month olds don't do.
We are so lucky to have her in our lives.
February 25, 2012
There's Yaya. There's Ed. And there's "Ad-da". She was walking room to room, trying to find her Daddy so she could show him something. She was yelling for "Ad-da". Guess Mama is the only one without a special name.
February 26, 2012
Back to the pool at the YMCA this afternoon. She put her entire face in the water, on her own, and blew bubbles, probably 3 dozen times in an hour. She loves it! She also liked the bucket of water that drops on the pool. It makes her laugh and laugh. She is part fish.
February 28, 2012
Elizabeth has begun outgrowing her 12 month clothes. Yes, her 12 month clothes. I had to wash a bunch of 18 month clothes today. Looks like they will fit her just fine. Keep in mind, she's not yet 10 months old. What am I feeding this thing? :o)

Asleep on Ed's head again.
Tonight, we were playing with her toybox. There are dozens and dozens of toys in her toybox. I'd ask her to "Get Mickey", and she'd retreieve her Mickey. "Get the ball", and she'd pull out her ball. "Give me the book", and she'd extract a book. It's amazing to me how accurately she played this little game!

Today we noticed some bumps forming under Lizzy's previously smooth gums. Teeth are impending.
Big girl! She picked out her own clothes today :o)

Elizabeth's Daddy came home tonight from a week away. He was amazed at how much she progressed on her walking skills. She now walks with such proficiency, it's astonishing.
A fun game Elizabeth has learned this past week has been to sneak up behind someone (whilst being carried) and "scare" them. She will put her hand out and ever-so-lightly touch the back of the person who is facing away from them, eliciting a startled response, which inevitably leads to Liz's laughter. Such a fun game!
Another of her new favorite pastimes is ringing bells. Yaya and Ed have a number of bells at their house, some inside, some outside. Regardless of which bell she is ringing, she will ring it a few times and wait for an audience (typically Yaya) to form. Then she will enthusiastically ring the bell to great applause and cheers from the crowd.

Gymboree this morning was followed by our first swim lesson. Liz did great. She was able to kick her feed and paddle with her arms at the same time. So cute! We all had a great time, and then she came home, ate lunch, and had a big 3 hour nap.
March 4, 2012
We went to the grocery store today and she wanted no part of riding in the cart. Instead, she wanted to walk up and down the grocery aisles. I must admit, it's pretty funny to see this tiny person walking around the grocery store :o)
In the afternoon, she was walking around the living room. She starting saying "poo poo poo", walked over to her changing area, and sat down. Sure enough, she needed changed. Any opinions on if it's now time to start potty training?
I noticed during her bath tonight that her fontanelle is now but the size of my fingertip. No longer a baby.
March 5, 2012
Ed had attempted to use a rubber band in a "Figure 8" around the cabinet knobs as a chlid-proof device, which would keep the doors closed since now Elizabeth is into EVERYTHING. She tried to open the cabinet doors, and was stymied but once. After studying the setup, she quickly figured out how to remove the rubber band (this is quite a manual dexterity feat for these little fingers!). She removed the rubber band, said "Huh", and proceeded to open the cabinets :o)

This morning, as we were getting ready for work, Elizabeth Linh decided she was going to try to figure out how to turn the water on to draw herself a bath. She got those little hands on the knobs, but just couldn't get them to turn like she wanted to. I apologize for the fuzzy photo quality, but look at this little mischief maker!
