Sweet baby girl is 7 months old today. Amazing how quickly the time has gone by, and how wonderful she has made our lives.
Mommy took Elizabeth's 7 month photos. They're not as good as when Daddy takes them.
Someone likes getting in the towel drawer at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
Liz woke up last night once Daddy came home from his business trip. Once she realized he was home, she wasn't interested in sleeping - she wanted to play! I couldn't get her back to sleep until almost 10:00 pm.

Miss Baby has completely mastered crawling since she started last Saturday. From zero to 60 in one week. She now crawls over to a stationary object, pulls up, and wobbles off (inevitably ending up on her bottom when gravity gets the better of her).
However, this new independence has led to fights when it's car seat time. She stiffens up her whole body and makes it very challenging to get her strapped in. Hopefully it's just a phase!
The other skill she's mastered is self-feeding. Puffs, freeze dried yogurt bites, etc. Again, because she's now independent when it comes to eating, she wants no part of me sitting there feeding her pureed baby food off of a spoon. She wants to do it herself, and she wants textured, sold food, thank you very much! What am I going to do with the dozens of jars of baby food in my cupboard?

Lizzy is a chatterbox when she's in a good mood. And she was definitely in a good mood tonight! For hours and hours she cooed and jabbered in her sweet, tiny voice. Normally, her bedtime is around 6:30. Except when her Daddy comes home, and then she wants to play! I couldn't get her to sleep until 9:00 pm. On the bright side, he's home the next 3 weeks, so maybe she'll get used to him being home again and it won't be a battle to get her to sleep. :o)

Elizabeth is a member of the Marsh kid's club. Every week, her grandparents and her go and pick up that week's "freebie". Sometimes it's a litle snack, sometimes it's a coloring page. This week...
In our ongoing battle with baby food, I decided tonight to boil some peas and corn for her. While most of it ended up on the floor, she was content for 30 minutes to self-feed. We finished up with some yogurt, and had a nice, happy night!

Santa is getting really busy at the North Pole, so he outsourced for some helpers. Elizabeth answered the help wanted ad.

After helping Santa, someone fell asleep on Grandpa.

Today we stayed around the house and practiced walking. She can now take 4 or 5 good steps by herself before gravity gets the better of her. And this little girl is done with baby food, other than pureed fruits for breakfast. For dinner, we went to O'Charley's, and she ate grilled chicken, broccoli, a sweet roll, and mashed potatoes. Yum yum!

More grown up food for Miss Baby. Breakfast was fruit and pancakes. And oh, does she ever like pancakes! Dinner was spaghetti and meat sauce. This baby likes to eat. Wonder where she gets that from?

I know most babies like to play with boxes. Liz is no exception.

"Bababababa". "Mamamamamama". "Aaahhh booo." Little Miss Chatterbox has been talking up a storm. She has such a sweet, tiny little voice. It is music to my ears.

Lizzy Butt was crawling around and having a great night. Her daddy took some fun pictures of her, and then again when she was having fun in the bathtub.

We discovered another new favorite food. Hard boiled egg yolk. She was so excited, and chewed wtih unprescidented gusto.

Lizzy's first Christmas Eve. We started the day with a visit to her Great-Grandmother's house.
After that visit, we headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house. We had a nice wagon ride and then played with the doggies, since it was sunny and suprisingly warm for Christmas Eve.
Then the family started to arrive, so we put on our Christmas party dress and opened presents.
We asked Liz to give Eeoyre a kiss.
After presents, we played slot machines, but before changing back into our jammies, everyone got to give Lizzy belly kisses.
Liz was a really joyful Christmas baby. She handled all the stimulation, noise, and people pretty well. She opened several of her presents on her own. And she stayed up WAY past her bedtime without getting too cranky. I'd consider it a success. And, since she's been such a good baby, we are guaranteed a visit from Santa.

This was the best Christmas ever. Grandma and Grandpa came over and we all had breakfast together. After Miss Baby woke up from her nap, she opened her presents. Her favorite was, it turns out, a simple plastic slinky. She was so overstimulated by the day that I couldn't get her to sleep until after 11:00 pm.

We had a wonderful day of visiting her only remaining Great-Grandfather, playing, and more walking. In the evening we practiced walking, and she took several sure-footed, perfectly balanced steps to me. She still can't go more than a few paces without going "boom", but considering she's still only 7 1/2 months old, I'll take it.

Sweet baby had to get her second flu shot dose today. I was so worried we would have a repeat of her first dose, where she developed a fever. Fortunately, she was fine. After her shot (and a few tears), we went to have breakfast at IHOP. Little hippo had some pancakes (which she loves) and some potatoes. We didn't stay up to celebrate the New Year, but I know 2011 was the best year of my life. I became a completely new person, with new priorities, understanding, and perceptions. All because this sweet angel entered our lives.
January 1, 2012
Today we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to celebrate the New Year. Miss Baby finally said "Dada" after months of waiting for that special word. She first said "Dada" to Tommy's Titelist hat (of which she has recently become enamoured) which was sitting on the living room couch. She then walked into the kitchen, saw him sitting at the table, and said "Dada" again. I often read that at 7 or 8 months, "Mama" and "Dada" are just meaningless babbling. I completely disagree, at least in Elizabeth's case. She says "Mama" and "Dada" to us, or to our pictures, or items that she associates with us.

What a day (and night!). Liz had a very late afternoon nap, which I knew would likely make her go to sleep later than usual. Sure enough I couldn't coax her to sleep until after 9:00 pm. Then her dad woke up at 12:15, thinking he heard a noise. His commotion woke us all up, and I couldn't get her back to sleep until after 2:00 am! Then, somewhere during the night, the furnace went out. So, Mommy only got about 5 hours of sleep, and Miss Baby got about 7 before I had to pack her up for the day with Grandma and Grandpa. The problem is she will get to sleep all day with her grandparents, and will likely be a challenge to get to sleep again tonight. I really shouldn't complain, though. Since she's been sleeping through the night (at 3 months old), I have had only a handful of "bad" nights. I should be counting my blessings, really!
January 3, 2012
Today Elizabeth had chicken and noodles for the first time, and ate with such vigor that I think we can count that as another favorite of hers. She also played bubbles with Grandpa and had an absolute blast chasing them around to pop them. She also wore a sweater from my cousin Michelle. She could wear a paper bag and still look stunning!

Once we got home, I put Elizabeth in the middle of a big circle of her toys. What did she choose? Her Daddy's old Blackberry.

Elizabeth was at Grandma and Grandpa's, in her high chair, eating a crescent roll. She would try to get Grandpa's attention, and then make a silly face at him to make him laugh. Here is one of her silly faces, made to elicit laughter.

I forgot to mention that last weekend I had to box up all of her 6 - 9 month clothes. She has long since outgrown them. She's mostly in 12 month clothes now, although some 9 month things still fit her.
Last night, whilst eating dinner, she dropped her sippy cup, leaned over to see it on the floor, and said "Uh Oh." Not bad for an almost-8-month old, right?

Elizabeth was safely playing in her nursery when I went into the guest bathroom to draw her bath. Within second of hearing the water turn on, she had crawled at warp speed into the bathroom! This girl loves her baths, and gets so excited when she hears water running.
