I had written a lengthy paragraph about the last 6 months and how it has changed me. About how much I love her. And what she means to me.
I published it. I re-read it.
And I realized that words aren't enough.
If I had all the time in the universe, and all the languages man has ever spoken at my disposal to describe what she means to me, I couldn't do it.
There just aren't words.
Her 6 month photos show her beauty and joyful spirit perfectly.

Two of the things that make Elizabeth completely elated are being outside and walking. Being outside is her favorite location. If indoors, she will find the nearest window to gaze out of. The upcoming winter months are going to present a challenge, I think. The other thing that makes her so happy is walking. Yes, she still needs some assistance, but she smiles and talks up a storm when she gets to walk. She can now take as many as 7 steps with her walk-behind push toy before she gets wobbly and needs help. She hasn't taken any more independent steps, but she's done lots more "cruising" and is getting pretty proficient. Crawling remains a frustration, and I think she's realizing that walking is much more fun anyhow.

It snowed today for the first time in Elizabeth's life. It wasn't much accumulation, but it was worth documenting with a photo.

This morning Liz was standing at the couch when her Daddy greeted her with "Hey!". She replied back, as clear as a bell, "Hey". We both looked at each other in recognition that she just perfectly mimicked back a new word. She is so much fun. Her joy and smiles and happy noises, especially when she is "walking", make my soul complete.

Tonight Elizabeth's Daddy finalized our reservations for our first family vacation. We're just going to Florida for 4 days, but it will be a nice chance to escape the chilly Indiana January weather, and enjoy some sunshine. Especially considering how much this girl craves being outdoors, it's a good decision. Plus, it will give us a chance to do a trial run for our trip to Italy next summer. We're looking forward to it!

Elizabeth took more independent steps this evening. We were on the bed and her Daddy stood her up (where, it should be noted, she stood alone for a few seconds) and she took two steps to me. We repeated the exercise, and she did it again! When people at work ask how she's doing and I tell them she's starting to walk, they can't believe their ears. I'm so proud of my very special baby.

Miss Baby took 3 more steps last night. She's getting pretty good at independent steps, although she's still a bit wobbly. Come on, though, she's only 6 months old. Cut the girl a break. :o)

It is so amazing to watch her uncover things on her own. In the bath tonight, she figured out she could submerge her rubby ducky and watch the bubbles come out. Then, when she would raise the ducky again, she'd squirt the water back out of the hole, laugh, and submerge him again. She is so inquisitive and likes making discoveries for herself. And, more steps today.

She stood by herself for several seconds before taking 3 steps over to me this morning after our nappy change. I think crawling is just an afterthought. Walking is way more fun. Her Grandparents did a few pictures with some stuffed Christmas friends.

Lizzy's first Thanksgiving was a wonderful day. Her Grandparents came over, and we all had a wonderful meal. Liz got to have some turkey and potatoes from the table, as well, and she did great! She made a valiant effort to stay up all afteroon, but finally gave up to nap time when Grandpa took her on a walk. We then put up the Christmas tree, and she was enamoured with it for the rest of the night.

We had a wonderful day today. We went to celebrate Rachel Terry's first birthday, and Elizabeth and Rachel finally got to meet. Unfortunately, we could only stay about an hour because it was her nap time. Once we got home, it was time for Daddy to take her Christmas pictures. And he got some great ones!
Also, my parents had an opportunity today to see the 6-month old baby of a mutual friend. This baby is 8 days younger than Elizabeth, and isn't playing, doesn't sit up, doesn't bear weight on her legs. Yet alone rolling from point A to point B, "dancing", standing, grabbing everything she can get her hands on, talking, pulling up, and walking. She just lays there, not doing much of anything. This reinforced for all of us how lucky we are to have such an advanced, precocious, fun-loving, personality-filled angel in our lives.
Liz is truly special. After Daddy had taken her Christmas pictures, she took her most perfect independent steps yet. One foot deliberately in front of the other, three times in a row, with perfect balance, to walk to Mommy. I'm so proud, so grateful, and so in love.
Christmas photos will be revealed closer to Christmas Day ;o)

One of my favorite things about bath time is, after I wash and rinse her hair, it settles into the most perfect swirl around her crown. Tonight, after her pureed dinner, she got some beef stew that Daddy had made. She is so over purees, and is definitely preferring "real" food with texture. Unfortunately, as she doesn't yet have any teeth, I have to carefully limit what she can have.

All I have to say today is "wow". We had Liz's 6 month doctor's visit today. She walked for the pediatrician, who was amazed. She said that, in her 20 years as a doctor, she's never seen a 6-month old walk, and that Elizabeth is the most advanced 6 month old she's ever seen. Seriously? I don't even know how to process this information right now. I'm so grateful that we are gifted with such an amazing baby.
Every night I nurse her to sleep. Tonight we were laying in my bed, talking to my parents on the phone. Clearly, I wasn't getting the show on the road fast enough. So, she crawled up over me, grabbed the "milk delivery apparatus" in both hands and, laying with her tummy on mine, began to nurse. I guess this girl goes after what she wants in life!

Our poor baby has her first fever ever. Her fever got up to 101.5 on Tuesday night. Nasty flu shot. So, I stayed home with her on Wednesday while she steadily improved throughout the day. By evening, she was her regular, full-of-life-and-smiles self, and wanted to play for hours!

Elizabeth's grandparents missed her terribly the past two days while she went to the doctor and was recovering from her fever so, when she got to their house this morning, they couldn't help but give her one of her Christmas presents early.
Today Elizabeth perfected giving kisses. Her Dad has been working with her on giving "kiss kiss", but it's been hit and miss. Today it really clicked, and now she will give you a big, wet, slimy kiss right on the lips when you ask - and sometimes even when you don't ask. Best kisses I've ever had!

With Daddy being out of town this weekend, Elizabeth and I decided to spend the weekend with the Grandparents. Saturday morning, Elizabeth showed some interest in really crawling - and she did 2 little crawls to get to my phone (one of her favorite items). After Daddy left, my parents picked us up, and we went to Fortville's Christmas celebration. We got our photo with Santa and characters from a Christmas Carol. Once we got home, it was play, play, play!

More playing, and more crawling! She did 4 little crawls today. Once we got home, we had a beautiful night of playing, crawling, walking, and loving.

And Miss Liz is now a proficient crawler. Fun times! I still find it funny that she walked before she crawled.
