Today was Lizzy's last day of school. She was pretty excited that this was the last day. Once I picked her up, we celebrated with tenderloins for lunch, and then we both napped for three house, until the early evening. This meant that both of us ended up staying up WAAAAAAY too late!
We had a late bath, playing with her new Star Wars bath toys (how cute are these?!):

While playing with the C3PO, she held him up and water came streaming out of his bottom. She proclaimed "It's C3-pee pee-O!" What a clever, funny little girl.

We got up early to go have breakfast with my Great-Grandparents on my Dad's side. She was pretty sleepy from the night before and still having to get caught up from Disney, so she wasn't overly talkative. They gave her a very generous gift card to Toys R Us, so we will have fun choosing something new in the next few days!
After breakfast, she and I went to Classic Cakes to choose a cake for her birthday party. No fancy custom cake this year, since we were having low-key family gathering.
Once we had selected her cake (well, SHE selected her cake. I tried to make suggestions, but she was set on the one she wanted), we headed back home. Still sleep, we had ANOTHER three hour nap. During our nap time, Daddy came home from New Orleans. She was so excited to see him, as she'd missed him the last few days.
We woke up and spent the rest of the night unpacking and playing.
She told me "Mommy, I'm going to draw a picture of you. It will have your earrings, eyelashes, nostrils, nunning, and butt." I would love to see this drawing!

Today was Lizzy's 3rd birthday party! It was a small gathering of just us, Eb and Gay Gay, and Granny. Poor planning on my part, scheduling it for Mother's Day I suppose. But we had a wonderful time regardless!
She loves Sheriff Callie's Wild West, so Gay Gay had gotten her a Sheriff Callie dress, and I had gotten her a matching cake topper:

Of course there was singing and her cake. Oh, this face!
Then presents! She loved the 3 foot tall Darth Vader I had found.
After her party, she was still tired. So, we had a (you guess it!) 3 hour nap. The third one of the weekend. Once we woke, we got dressed and went to Izakaya as we always do for Mother's Day. She ate a good dinner, and said she was still sleepy. She went to bed around 10, much earlier than I'd expected, since she had napped until nearly 7:00.

We went to Chuy’s for dinner for the first time, and it was fantastic! The food was great and they gave Lizzy dough to play with, which she loved!

This little girl is hilarious! She was naked, as we were going to be taking a bath shortly, but was playing in her room. At Disney, she had been given a huge stack of stickers by one of the employees there. She decided to place them all over her naked body. I would love to post the picture, but probably shouldn't!

Talking in her sleep, Lizzy said "I like ice cream better than rice."
We went to Toys R Us to use a gift card she had gotten for her birthday. She chose two new games for her little computer. Then we went to Red Robin for a lovely dinner, shopping for some new tennis shoes at Finish Line (her little feet are growing so quickly!), and some sweet treats from the candy shop. Then home for (surprise, surprise) Star Wars.
May 18, 2014
Elizabeth was upstairs playing, and I had run downstairs to do something. I hear her walking from her room to the stop of the stairs. Next thing I know, she is yelling at me "Jennifer, come up here!" Ha!
Lizzy always names her toys with a "-y" sound at the end. So a dragon is always named "Dragon-y", a lizard would be "Lizard-y", etc.
She was playing with some bath toys in the big bathtub, that she normally doesn't play with. She grabs a toy octopus and says "Look! Octopussy!" I couldn't help but laugh.

Today was the start of a nearly-perfect Memorial Day weekend. We all slept 10 hours on Friday night, waking up feeling wonderful. After watching F1 qualifying, we all went to the beach. There was an icee truck there, so she got to pick her flavor (blue raspberry) and enjoyed that while we played for a good 90 minutes.
Afterwards, Daddy went to a party while she and I went home for a nice 2 hour nap. Once we woke up, we headed over to our friend's annual pre-race/Memorial Day party. Last year, we were wearing coats. This year, however, the weather was much more cooperative. We swam, listened to the band, got in the hot tub, and had a fantastic time. It was 10:00 pm before Liz was ready to leave!
May 25, 2014
We slept in a good while, watched the Monaco Grand Prix, and then went to get doughnuts. She and I napped for 3 hours, then we went to Chuy's for dinner with the Lewises. Silly pictures while we were waiting.

Dinner was fantastic. Lizzy and Naveen loved watching the tortillas being made, and Lizzy ended up with TWO dough balls with which to play. She was thrilled!
After dinner, we went to the carnival that was set up at Hamilton Town Center. They offer unlimited ride wristbands, so Lizzy and Naveen each got one. Unlimited fun!

We ended up staying at the carnival until they shut down at 10. We certainly got our money's worth on the unlimited ride band!

Memorial Day was a nice day. Again, we slept late. We headed over to the park to play for awhile, and again, there was an icee truck! She picked another yummy flavor. After visiting the grocery, we headed home for our third indulgent nap of the weekend - another 3 hours!
May 27, 2014
As we were making Lizzy go to sleep for the night, she told us "I like Gay Gay and Eb better than you guys." Ha! Because they don't make her go to sleep, I suppose. :o)
May 30, 2014
Lizzy has been very interested in the things in my Beatles room for quite some time, especially my Yellow Submarine toys that are still in their original boxes. I've let her watch a few clips of the Yellow Submarine film, because honestly, that's all I had. I had the film, but it was on VHS (shock! horror!) and I haven't a VHS player anymore. So, Tommy ordered the Blu Ray for us.
Tonight she and I sat down to watch it. To say she loved it was an understatement! I am so pleased.
May 31, 2014
Another utterly fantastic Saturday. We all woke up within minutes of each other at 7:30. I'd been seeing commercials for IHOP's new Summer Pancake menu, so off we went to breakfast. Then we headed over to Costco for some fun shopping. After a 2 hour-nap back at home, we went to the pool.

After almost 2 hours of great pool time, we headed back home to get cleaned up for dinner at Claddagh with the English Ex-Pat group. Lizzy was such a good girl, talking with our tablemates about her Disney trip, and making everyone laugh when she decided she wanted to just eat her sour cream.
Once we got home, she was playing with my phone, and somehow managed to take this photo of herself, looking like she did at 9 months of age.

Two highlights of our day:
1. A FOUR HOUR nap. At what point is it no longer a nap, and just really sleeping in the middle of the day?
2. At bath time, she was playing with her octopus. I asked her if she knows why it's called an octopus, and we were talking about how "octo" means 8. We talked about what shape has 8 sides (she knew it was an octogon). Then she said something that made me laugh. "Mommy, if spiders have eight legs, why aren't they called octo-spiders?" She's got a good point, you know!
June 5, 2014
We had dinner at Ram, and I snapped this photo of Lizzy outside before we went inside. She looks just like me at this age.

Daddy had to spend the evening packing for his week away in Las Vegas, so while he was upstairs, Lizzy and I went on a bike ride. We ended up at the playground in the neighborhood behind ours, where they have a much larger playground than our neighborhood does.
This playground has a big curly slide. She wanted to go down it, but was apprehensive at first. She went down in 3 times, with me reaching my hand up as high as I could to hold her hand as she went down. By the fourth time, she told me to wait at the bottom, and came down all by herself. I was so proud of her!
Once we returned home, it was nearly bath time, so she was naked. She declared she "wanted to put on a show." She grabbed me and Daddy, took us in her room, and had us turn off the lights. Then she took a light-up-spinner toy from her Granddad Mac, stood on top of her bed, spun the spinner in the dark, and sang Deck the Halls. This ranks right up there with Paul McCartney as one of the best shows I've ever seen!

Daddy had to leave super early for Vegas, so Lizzy and I slept until about 8:30, then we got up, showered, and headed out. We first went to visit Monica, then we went to Eb and Gay Gay’s. We did fireworks, played, and then went to the Markleville Farmer’s Market.

After playing on the playground, and holding a baby chicken, we went to the June Jamboree. Eb had bought 3 sheets of tickets, and we went during family time, where every ride was only 1 ticket per ride. This meant 48 rides. She rode so many rides, we ended up giving away several tickets as we were leaving. A little girl can only ride so many rides in 3 hours!
We had a wonderful time. We had a picnic, , played games (she got lots of prizes, and a fishy!), ate ice cream (during which she made us all hold hands, then do Ring-Around-the-Rosy), and made lots of memories.

We left Eb and Gay Gay’s a little after 5:45 in the evening. Lizzy fell asleep in the car around 6:00, and slept until 9:30 the following morning. That much fun is exhausting!
June 8, 2014
Eb and Gay Gay came over, and we had lunch at Chuy’s. We got to sit at the table right next to the tortilla making window. How exciting! Afterwards we went to Dollar Tree, and we picked out a craft for Father’s Day.
June 9, 2014
For the past 3 years, when we get home from our day, the first thing Elizabeth has wanted is nunning. We put our stuff down, go immediately to the couch, and have our time to reconnect after our busy days. The last few weeks, however, I’ve noticed that is no longer the first thing she wants. Some days, she doesn’t even ask to do nunning until 6:30 or 7:00 pm. My little girl is growing up, it seems.
June 14, 2014
What a fun day! We got the house cleaned , as we were hosting the England v Italy World Cup match at our house. She had a 3.5 hour nap, so she was good and recharged for the party! She were so good – letting the other children play with her toys, and playing so nicely with another little girl. The two of them were on the patio playing with bubbles, and Lizzy told me “Mommy, you can go inside. I want to stay out here and talk to my friend.”

Around 10:00, she was getting tired, so we headed upstairs. I decided to play a little bit of hide and seek with her before bed, so we took turns hiding.
When we play hide and seek, I do a little rhyme to build anticipation when I come to find her. It goes like this:
Where’s that little girl?
I’m gonna eat her up
I’m gonna eat that little baby butt
Where’s that little girl,
Hiding in my house?
I think she’s being as quiet as a mouse
The third verse I normally make up on the fly, to correspond with where she’s hiding. If she’s hiding in the bed, it’s this:
Where’s that little girl,
Whose name is in my head?
I think she is hiding in the bed!
Well, we were playing hide and seek, and I was hiding in the bed. I’ve noticed she’s started trying to say the rhyme too, but it doesn’t come out quite right.
Listen to the audio I captured.
In case you can’t make it out, here’s what she’s saying:
Ready or not, here I come!
Where’s that big Mama butt?
She’s being quiet as a mouse.
Where’s that big Mama butt?
I think she’s on my head.
And I’m gonna take her blankie off!
June 15, 2014
At 6:45, Lizzy woke me up saying “Mommy. Time to wake up! The sun is up!”
Since it was Father’s Day, we let Daddy sleep until about 9:30, when we woke him up. We lay in bed and tickled and giggled for a while, then we got up and headed out. We went to Dim Sum for lunch (she ate soup and rice)

After lunch, we went to play Mini Golf. She was so cute, and got 3 hole-in-ones. She nearly won, being beaten by Daddy by only 5 strokes.
Next, we went into the arcade, and we played a few games. Her best prize was a whoopee cushion. We went back home and she said she wanted to take a nap, so she did. Once she woke up, we ate dinner (she wanted Mickey Nuggets), Skyped with Aivan and Nhi, and then rode our bikes to the playground in the neighborhood behind us. We came back, and played a bit more (she wore her Cinderella dress and danced with Daddy, while Mommy had to sing.) What a great day!
June 16, 2014
Elizabeth has mostly given up naps (at least through the week at Eb and Gay Gay's), so this means early bedtime through the week. I noticed around 7:00, she was getting a little grumpy. I asked her if she was being grumpy, and she said "I just want to be disagreeable." I couldn't help but laugh. It was so cute!
June 19, 2014
Today was Lizzy's 3-year checkup. She did so fantastically well!
She is 38.25 inches tall, and weighs 33 pounds (73% and 69%, respectively.) She has a healthy BMI of 15.88 (56%), and had great blood pressure (90/60).
The most important thing is the doctor kept saying how SMART she is! She kept commenting on the amazing things coming out of her mouth. Things like “What is that thing next to the otoscope?” and “Next time I come for a checkup, I’m going to use the stethoscope on you.” The doctor said she’s seriously smarter than the average 3 year old, and encouraged me to keep challenging her development. The doctor noticed her sense of humor (very well developed for a 3 year old), and her atypical time orientation. She has a great grasp of past and future - again, atypically so. Of course she did all the “tricks” – counting, alphabet, etc., for the doctor. On her way out, the doctor said “Well, I’ll see you when you turn 4 Elizabeth. I’m sure you’ll be reading by then.”
As we were checking out, Lizzy said “I want to get another checkup.” She had a great time.

Daddy farted, and she made him go sit on the naughty step. So funny!
June 21, 2014
Saturday we got up (after 10, 12, and 12.5 hours of sleep between me, her, and Daddy) and I made pancakes. After 1 bite, she decided she wanted eggs instead. So, we boiled some eggs. She and I washed my car, had lunch, then she and I had a lovely 2.5 hour nap. In the evening, she and I went to a jewelry party at a friend’s house, and she was so very good.
June 22, 2014
We got up early for breakfast with the Lewises, then we went swimming for 2 hours, then she had a 2 hour nap. We spent the evening playing and having fun. What a beautiful weekend we had!
June 24, 2014
I decided to get my foot spa out to relax a bit. Liz, like any other child, has the response in the bathtub where she wants to pee when she gets into the warm water. I have always permitted this, since it's harmless. Now, it's an automatic response. So, as soon as she stepped into the warm water of the foot spa - uh oh! I couldn't help but laugh a little - it was such a sweet, innocent mistake.
June 26, 2014
Before falling asleep on Friday night, I had told Liz about the Disc Dog show at the Freedom Festival. Upon awaking (at 7:10 am, by the way) Saturday morning, the first words out of her mouth were "Do we still get to go to the doggie games this morning?"
Of course we do! We headed to the Freedom Festival in a light drizzle, which didn't dampen our spirits.

Tonight was Lizzy's first soccer class through the town of Fishers. It's very well organized, and she got a huge ball sack filled with soccer goodies (balls, training cones, shin guards, soccer playing skills guide, etc.) She thoroughly enjoyed it!

After soccer class, we had Mexican dinner with the Lewises, then we went to see fireworks! We had a great vantage point at the top of a hill, and Liz spent about 90 minutes running up and down the hill. She loved the fireworks, and everyone had a great time!
July 4, 2014
Independence Day was relatively low-key this year. We stayed home all day, napped, played, painted, played hide and seek, and did fireworks at dusk.
July 5, 2014
We went to Costco and as we arrived Lizzy said "I think about this place all the time. This is the place where we look at all the things and they have a bathroom." Ha! The musings of a 3 year old.
After Costco, we returned home and Lizzy and I went to the beach. I know it's not a "real beach" but we thoroughly enjoy having something like this right around the corner.

After the beach, obviously there was nap time. Upon waking, we made dinner, and she asked if we could eat dinner outside. So, we moved the show out to the back patio and enjoyed a beautiful al fresco dinner. After dinner, we stayed outside and played in the sprinkler, her sandbox, her water table, and then at dusk, we grabbed some blankets and cuddled up in the back yard to watch fireworks. What a fun night!

We didn't have anything on the agenda today, so on a whim we decided to go play Duckpin Bowling. Elizabeth led right up until the very last frame, when I eeked out a victory. It was great fun!

I was dealing with a lot of pain in my neck and back from sleeping awkwardly on Thursday night. The entire weekend, she was in caregiver mode, ensuring I was feeling okay and resting. She's so concerned whenever someone isn't well. Fortunately, by Sunday, I was feeling much better! We were able to get out of the house to do some grocery shopping, and enjoy our day.
She decided to build a booby trap.

While Mama and Dad were watching the World Cup, she wanted to watch the Aristocats with headphones, since she said the TV was too loud (it really wasn't, it's just the speakers on my laptop are really quiet!)

Ready for day two of Messy Camp!
Today they got to do face painting and play with silly string. Messy Camp is fun!
July 16, 2014
Today's Messy Camp agenda is tape art and ooblek. She's loving this.
She fell asleep on her arm, and her arm fell asleep. This caused her to sit up in a panic, saying "Mama help, my arm won't move!" I rubbed it and got her back to sleep. I guess that was the first time that had ever happened, and it was scary!

Today at Messy Camp they made tie-dye t-shirts. Hers turned out pretty well!

After Messy Camp, we went to soccer class. She's getting so good at it! At the end, we played Sharks and Minnows, and she took off running with the soccer ball so fast, and with such nimbleness, that even some other parents remarked at how well she is doing.
Before bed, I asked her if she remembered her arm falling asleep the night before. She said yes, so I tried to explain to her that it was because of the blood inside of her not getting to her arm. Then we talked about bones and muscles inside, but for some reason, she got so panicked about the blood.
She kept asking "is blood going to come out of me?" and then didn't want to lay down on her arms. I tried to cuddle with her but she didn't want to lay on me, again, worried that blood was going to come out of me. It took probably 10 minutes before I convinced her that blood will only come out of her if she is cut, and that it's okay for blood to be inside of us, and even to lay on our arms.
July 18, 2014
The last day of Messy Camp was a huge success. They made cake balls and did a scavenger hunt. Mommy and Daddy joined her for a picnic lunch at camp. Then they watched Wall-E which, if you know Elizabeth at all, you know she loves robots. So, add this to her short list of favorite movies now. We came home and she fell right asleep, her first nap all week. All the fun of Messy Camp had worn her out!
July 19, 2014
Eb and Gay Gay wanted Elizabeth to come visit a few hours since she'd been at camp all week and they missed her. They had her all morning and into early afternoon. Once I got her home, Daddy had the brilliant idea to go to Dave and Buster's. After a yummy dinner, we went and played lots of games. She chose a stuffed piggy and a bouncy ball for her prizes.
We walked next door to Hobbytown, and she got "derailed" by the train sets.

Our Sunday Funday started with breakfast with the Lewises, then we were off to the zoo. Since we try to go at least once a year, I was happy to try some of the things we don't normally do. We watched the trick dogs performing. We watched the Rio 4D movie. We rode the carousel. We have seen the dolphin show many times, but never from the first row of the splash zone! Everyone got soaked except for Elizabeth, since when I would see the dolphins preparing to splash us I'd turn us around and catch the brunt of the water with my back. She only got a tiny bit of water in her hair! We also rode the zoo train, which Elizabeth enjoyed.

Of course, so many hours of zoo fun is exhausting, and she fell asleep before we left downtown, and proceeded to sleep for 3 hours.

Today was Elizabeth's last soccer class. She has gotten really good! She loves doing "Go team" with the hands in the middle at the end of class, so I had to get a picture of her last one.

She asked me if I would put some makeup on her. I honestly don't have too much in the way of makeup, so I just put some blush on her cheeks and applied the only lipstick I own, bright red (in my defense, it's left over from my Halloween costume last year.) When she looked in the mirror, she said "I'm all styled up!"
July 26, 2014
The first thing she wanted to do, immediately upon waking, was to get "all styled up" again. She is really loving playing with my limited stock of makeup.
Elizabeth has been asking to go camping. She says she wants to sleep in a tent and make hot dogs and marshmallows. I do not like camping. I will go, but my requirement is at least an air mattress to sleep on. So, we needed a tent big enough to accommodate my demands. Saturday we went to pick out our new tent to allow us to go camping. We set it up in the living room, and spent a lot of time playing.

Then, like the excited children we are, we all ended up taking a nap in the tent. We were going to sleep outside, but it ended up that there were storms coming in, so we took the tent down until another day.

Elizabeth got "all styled up" 3 times today. I may need to buy additional cosmetics.

Ed always sprays Lizzy with bug spray/sunscreen before she plays outside. She wanted outside to play, but he said "I need to put bug spray on you so the bugs don't eat you." Lizzy asked him "If the bugs eat me, would you rebuild me?"
Thursday night, I was on the phone with Comcast for a few hours (yippee) trying to fix a problem. At 10:15 pm, I had had enough and needed to get to bed. I asked Tommy to take over the call so I could get Lizzy and I to sleep. I told the rep "Here, talk to my husband." This must have been the first time Lizzy had ever heard that word, because it caused her to lose it, laughing so hard for several minutes. We were joking around and she said (still laughing and carrying on) "I want a husband" I replied with "You can't have a husband." This caused an instant transition into tears and utter sadness. I had to backtrack and promise her she can have a husband. She told me she wanted me to be her husband, to which I agreed. So, I guess I'm now Lizzy's Mommy AND her husband.
August 2, 2014
Whenever we go out, more of then than not, people stop us to comment how beautiful Lizzy is. She doesn't like this, and sometimes hides her face in her hands and says "I don't want people to look at me."
I was fixing her hair in the morning, when she said "Mommy, my friends all think I'm gorgeous. But you and I know the truth." Ha! What, the truth is that you are exceptionally gorgeous? Sweet girl.
We had a great day! We went to the Markleville parade, and she got a huge bag of candy.

We came home, ate lunch, and had a two hour basement nap. Then we set the tent up, played outside for several hours, roasted marshmallows and we slept outside! We had 10 solid hours of sleep - it was great. Since that was a success, it looks like we'll be camping for real sometime in the fall!
August 3, 2014
We awoke in our tent and stayed outside a little while to play in it before coming in for breakfast. We had a productive day together - pulling weeds, painting our porch post - before going to my friend Ginny's house for a cookout and swimming. We all had a wonderful time, but especially Lizzy!

We are very careful with our language around Lizzy, sure that we don't swear or use "mean" words around her. We have even gone so far as to say words like "stupid" aren't nice words. So, when one uses that word, one ends up on the naughty step. Well, I accidentally said something was stupid, and I ended up on the naughty step for several minutes.
Before bed, I put some cream on my face to ward off some potential acne spots. This cream is white, and very visible. When I climbed into bed, she laughed and exclaimed "Mama, you're ugly!"
August 7, 2014
A perfect day. We awoke early to go to the dentist for her 6-month cleaning and checkup. She did great! I was relieved to hear there were no major issues, and she won't need to come back for 6 more months. Brushing religiously three times a day has paid off!
I had taken the entire day off so we could go to the State Fair together after her dentist visit. I had originally planned on getting the second fair train of the day, but the dentist got us in and out so quickly that we had time to get over to catch the first train of the day. Score!

The train ride was an absolute blast, but not only because both Lizzy and I love trains. We had an entire train car to ourselves. Out the window, we saw bunnies, dogs, and even a deer jump out a field and run alongside the train briefly! The journey ended all too soon for our liking, but to be delivered straight to the State Fair is perfect. We arrived at 9:30, and headed straight for both of our favorite part - the animal barns!
Arriving so early on a random Thursday means a virtually empty faigrounds. I'd never been to the State Fair when it was so uncrowded. We were literally the ONLY people in the horse barn other than exhibitors! This meant Lizzy got to pet probably a dozen or so horses, who were standing out of their pens getting groomed and pampered.
This horse was named Tommy. She found this hilarious.

We saw some more animals, including a sow who'd had piglets a few days before. She was fascinated watching the piglets "do nunning."
After the animal barns, it was nearly 11:00, which is a perfectly acceptable time for a chocolate-dipped ice cream cone.
Next we had some fun in the poultry barn, including silly pictures in the egg cutout.
Ever since seeing the piggies do nunning, she had been asking for nunning. I told her there wasn't a good place (not a lie), so when I stumbled upon a nice, air-conditioned lactation station, we popped in for a break. It was SO NICE! It was a motor home, all set up for nursing. They even had complimentary bottled water to take.
After this break, we walked around a few buildings and then decided it was lunch time. Lizzy wanted some popcorn, so I obliged, and then we shared a wonderful tenderloin.
After our yummy lunch, we went to feed some goats, and then we discovered the FFA Playground, which kept her captivated for at least a half an hour, until I had to scoop her up to move on to the next thing.
Upon emerging from the playground, we found the animal rides. She was about to choose an elephant ride, but then got a whiff of how stinky they were and changed her mind to ride a pony instead. This pony was named Starbucks, and there was a donkey that followed her around the duration of her ride.
After the pony ride, we went to "Little Hands on the Farm", where she got to pretend to be a farmer. It was so cute! She wore a little apron and carried a little basket, and at each stop had to harvest a crop of some kind (corn, soybeans, apple, peppers, etc.) and then at the end she sold her crops at a market to earn money, which she could then turn in to pick a prize. No shocker, she chose a packet of popcorn with her "earnings."
After farming, it was ride time. We rode several rides together, and then had time for one game before we had to leave to catch the 2:15 train back home.
The one game she played resulted in an oversized prize. She chose a giant green ball (which she subsequently named "Edgar") which proved to be quite difficult to get back on the train, since I was by myself with a 3-year old, stroller, and now a giant ball. But, we managed!
This was a perfect day, just me and my girl. I wish we could do it all over again!

Elizabeth's "styling up" obsession has wiped out my meager supply of drug-store cosmetics, I decided to go to Ulta to upgrade to some better stuff, so she can have my other stuff for herself. While there, they got her "all styled up" in purple lip gloss, which looked beautiful on her! She wanted a case to put her "style uppers" in, and chose a zebra-print hard sided case. At least it should last a while! She came home and quickly filled it up with her style uppers.

Last fall, we had joined the Colts season ticket waiting list. Our number came up faster than we'd expected, so while we were at Disney in May, we got to pick our seats. Tonight was our first pre-season game! Lizzy had such a great time, liked watching all the action, seeing Blue, and especially running around Lucas Oil Stadium!

It was a really good game, and the Colts were winning 26 - 0 until we left with 10 minutes to go in the fourth, after which the Giants came back to a 27 - 26 win. Apparently Lizzy is their good luck charm. That'll teach us to leave early!

After the ceremony, Elizabeth so badly wanted to go down to the river, so Ed drove the four of us (Ed, me, Tommy and Lizzy) down to the river so she could play a little bit. We will be returning here in a few weekends when we are finally ready to go camping! She LOVED hiking in the woods and it was hard to tear her away. However, I was not dressed for hiking (in heels), so it was hard to keep up with her.
After our visit down to the river, we returned to the reception for cupcake time. It was a beautiful afternoon!

Today was Elizabeth's first day of a new preschool. She will be going two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Since we know Kindergarten is only 2 short years away, we want to prepare her for this in the best way possible.
She wasn't showing any apprehension or nervousness about going, which is a huge step forward from last year's experiences. When I tried to get her to hold her "1st day of preschool" sign, she was being so giggly, turning it around backwards so I couldn't get the picture I wanted. Once I gave up and taped it to the wall, she tried running away. Funny girl!

School was FANTASTIC!! She cried a tiny bit after I dropped her off, then spent the rest of the day happily playing, learning, making crafts, and working on writing her name. I picked up a happy, talkative little girl who wanted to tell me everything she'd done that day. I'm so at peace, knowing we've made a good decision for her.

Sadly, summer is drawing to a close, so we wanted to take advantage of a fun pool day. Fortunately, our YMCA was hosting a pool party. We all had such a great time! There were silly props to take pictures, entertainment, a bounce house, food, and plenty of sunshine.

Daddy had been wanting to take Lizzy to Bounce U for ages. They had Open Bounce today, so we finally managed to go. For about 45 minutes, she had a fantastic time! They have so many bouncies, and for the last 15 minutes or so, they did "cosmic bounce" with black lights and lasers. So cool, for $5!
Afterwards, we went to Costco. As always, she loved it there. Just like Mommy and Daddy do! She chose a wonderful preschool workbook. It's filled with great activities, but her favorites are mazes. She's had me mark every page with a maze on it for her. Love it!

Two more successful days of preschool are under her belt. She's doing SO WELL, learning her letter sounds and working on writing her name. She's making great progress. I love that they take her unique situation into account. In the morning, she's with the 3-year olds, doing the normal 3-year old curriculum. In the afternoons, however, the 3-year olds take naps and do quiet time. Given Lizzy's advanced development, they've customized her plan so that in the afternoons she goes with the 4-year olds to work on letter sounds, reading, and writing. I'm so glad we've found a place that doesn't force a "one size fits all" approach. She actually asked me to take her early one morning!
After preschool, I took her to get some frozen yogurt. She chose vanilla with hot fudge and chocolate chips on top. We came home and ate dinner first, then she got to eat her yogurt after. Well, after a day of preschool, her clothes were covered in markers, and after eating the hot fudge, her shirt (and face and neck) were covered in chocolate. She was filthy. So, I stripped her clothes off right in front of the laundry room, with the intention of going straight up to the bath afterwards. Not 5 seconds later, she's over at the front door, standing completely naked in front of the windows on the side of the door, telling me "Mommy, someone is at the door." Sure enough, there were some school-aged girls doing a fundraiser, and there stood naked Elizabeth announcing their presence. We all got a good laugh out of it - including Elizabeth, who was laughing so hard that everyone else was cracking up.

My parents had bought Elizabeth some kinetic sand a few weeks ago, which is pretty much the BEST THING EVER. Lizzy's friends came over to play with her. It's so much fun!

Elizabeth spent Labor Day with Gay Gay and Ed, since they were missing her too much, and she them. It was a beautiful day spent outside. While she was there, she was showing off her reading skills, doing letter sounds and trying to sound out words with Ed. I'm so proud of her!
As I went to pick her up, she was going potty. She likes to take her pants and underpants completely off when going potty, for some reason. After she'd finished, Gay Gay was trying to get her to put her pants back on. She said "No, Mommy likes my baby butt." She's right; I do.

After another two great days at preschool, I got her up early to go to Gay Gay and Ed's. As I was driving to drop her off, I looked back and saw her looking out the window, with a rather sad expression on her face. I asked her what was wrong. She replied "I'm looking at these soybeans. I don't like soybeans. They're yucky."

Elizabeth and Mommy spent the afternoon shopping, getting her lots of new clothes for autumn. All on her own, she selected an outfit - boots, leopard print leggings, a matching t-shirt and a faux fur vest. She did better than I could have done. When we came home later that evening and she tried on her clothes to show Daddy, she said "Here comes the queen" when she made her entrance.
We went to our friend Cara's 2nd birthday party that evening. They had a petting zoo and pony rides, like Lizzy had at her second birthday party! She got to pet a piglet, hold a chicken, ride the pony, pet a bunny, and play with goats. What a fun time!

Elizabeth spent Labor Day with Gay Gay and Ed, since they were missing her too much, and she them. It was a beautiful day spent outside. While she was there, she was showing off her reading skills, doing letter sounds and trying to sound out words with Ed. I'm so proud of her!

Lizzy's hair is getting REALLY long, and was a little uneven. We took her in for a little trim to even it up. The stylist did an Elsa braid for her, which she loved. I wish I could learn to do this!

Elizabeth is learning so much at preschool. Today she excitedly told me "They cut down trees and take them do the factory and cut down paper. Did you know that already? Say, "no, I didn't." She wants me to say I don't know a fact so she can be proud of teaching it to me.

Tonight we celebrated my birthday dinner (a day early) with Daddy and Gay Gay and Ed. We went to Tucano's, and Elizabeth ate three bowls of mandarin oranges. She loves fruit!
She had made me a birthday cake with as little help as possible. She mixed the ingredients, put the icing and sprinkles on, and Ed wrote "Happy" and she wrote "Birthday" with the candles. It's special to me that she put so much care into my cake, and took such pride in it.

Whenever Daddy goes to Chicago for work (at least once a month, sometimes more), he gets a rental car. When he brings said rental car home, Elizabeth LOVES to play in the new car. She has asked "When are you going to get a rental car and take me to Chicago?" So, for my birthday weekend, we did just that.
We got the house cleaned, got our rental car all packed up, and hit the road for our journey. It was a fun little road trip. On the way up, we stopped for a hot dog at a truck stop, and then again in Merrillville at the candy factory, which Lizzy LOVED (who wouldn't?!)

Before we knew it, we had arrived in Chicago. We left our car with the valet, and went to check in. We got upgraded to one of the two nicest rooms in the entire hotel - a corner suite, with both river AND lake view, on one of the two premium floors. It was so nice!
We got unpacked, looked out the window for a little bit, and then headed to Gino's East for my birthday lunch/dinner. Lizzy ordered spaghetti, and we had a wonderful pizza. Elizabeth enjoyed coloring on the walls and writing on the booth. I did too :o)

We returned to our room, where we relaxed until bedtime. Elizabeth looked out the bedroom window before we went to sleep, and was in awe of the beautiful lights reflecting against the slightly damp ground. "Mommy, Chicago is so sparkly!"

Afterwards, we went back to the hotel for nap time for all of us. In the late afternoon, we went to Navy Pier. We had dinner at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company (which was so good!), and Lizzy got a fun souvenier cup which matches a larger souvenier cup I got. She told me "Mommy, we can drink beer together in our matching cups!" Ha!
Next, we took a Lake Michigan sightseeing tour, which was perfectly timed with the sunset. We all enjoyed it.
We walked around a little while longer at Navy Pier, then headed back to the hotel.

We stopped at Fair Oaks Farms on our way home. It was a great time! We took the Dairy Adventure and saw cows in their barns, being milked, and baby cows who had just been born. Then Elizabeth played, having a great time on the giant jumping pillow (?), riding the train, and playing (cheating!) in the "string cheese" maze. We watched a Mommy cow in labor for awhile, but as we were getting hungry, we abandoned waiting for the birth to go get ice cream and cheeses.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture. This captures her personality so perfectly.
After a few hours at the farm, we got back in the car to complete our journey home. I looked out the passenger side mirror to see this.
It was a fun, fantastic birthday weekend. I love when we get to spend time as a family like this. There is nothing more important in the world than making these sorts of memories together.

Elizabeth is Star of the Week at Preschool, so today she got to tell the class about how she took Share Bear to Chicago, and they had a popcorn party. This week, they're learning about community helpers (police, fire, etc.) Before bed, she told me "Mommy, if there's ever a fire, you just dial 9 and 1-1, and the fireman will come and help you."
September 17, 2014
As Star of the Week, Elizabeth got to have someone special come and read a book to her class. Since Mommy and Daddy both had work, Gay Gay and Ed were able to go read to her class. She also got to bring a special treat today - we brought bananas and vanilla wafers for the class. Yum! Gay Gay was impressed at how tall Elizabeth is as compared to her classmates.

Ed decided the best way to celebrate his birthday was with a birthday part at Chuck-E-Cheese with his 3 best girls. Not to exclude Tommy, but he was in Las Vegas for work. So, we enjoyed 3 hours of fun! We had so many game tokens (around 300) that by the end we were just trying to get rid of them. We ended up with over 4000 prize tickets - so many that Elizabeth couldn't spend them all, and we returned home with a voucher for 2200 tickets to spend next time we go. Whew!
It was really a fun time. Ed even got into the ticket blaster machine!

She said they've been learning about the letters B and X. Since I knew she'd already learned the sound for O, I wrote the word BOX on a piece of paper and asked her to sound it out. She did each letter sound and figured out, on her own, that it said box! She's SO CLOSE to reading - I can hardly wait!

The day had finally arrived for us to try out all the camping gear we'd purchased back when Lizzy said she wanted to go camping. I picked her up, and we went home to load the car and head to the campground (only 20 minutes from our house.) About 10 minutes into our drive, I looked back and she had fallen asleep. She stayed asleep while we got the tent and an air mattress set up, and then I moved her there, where she proceeded to sleep for 90 minutes.

I eventually had to wake her up so she could enjoy the campground (playground and horses) before nightfall. We had potatoes, chicken sausages, and zucchini over the fire for dinner. At 9:30, she declared she was ready for bed, so we snuggled in for the night.

Elizabeth slept SO SOUNDLY in the tent that I had to wake her at 9:30, 12 hours later, so we could get her fed and start to take the site down (we had to be out at 11:00. Hard telling how much longer she would have slept! Can you spot her in this photo?

We headed home to unload the camping mess and get cleaned up, and then headed to Oktoberfest nearby. We've gone every year for the last 4 years, and I always get a picture of Lizzy and Daddy together.
We've also gotten this photo the past two years:
We did some shopping, and she picked out a Frozen necklace to match her Frozen shirt. Purple happens to be her favorite color, too, so she was thrilled with her purchase.

We had a great time at the Colts game today! After we got parked, we walked around the Stadium. Elizabeth had recently learned about Community Helpers at preschool, so she wanted to say hi to an officer standing by his car. Well, it turned out he was a K-9 officer, and he got his K-9 partner out of the car to say hi to her. She was so excited!
Next, we encountered some guys who were drumming on plastic drums. They turned the sticks over to Elizabeth. Check her out!

As if THAT wasn't enough fun, next we went to the Fan Zone. She did the Play 60 obstacle course twice! Look at those little pigtails as she jumped.
Next, she wanted her face painted. A horseshoe and sparkles. To match her Frozen necklace.
The game itself was really fun, with a big Colts win. We love doing this as a family. We all have a great time.

We decided to do some tailgating at the Colts game with our friend Jon. We arrived early and got all set up, and warmed up the yummy chili Daddy had made the day before. We had a great time, then went over to the fan zone again for the Play 60 obstacle course and face painting. She fell asleep at the end of the first quarter and slept until the game was over - through all the cheering, fireworks, and other assorted loud noises.

Today was a big day, as we prepared for a full weekend of camping. Again, this was all Lizzy's idea. She wanted to go camping, so here we are: proud owners of a tent and (way too much) camping gear!
We got the car all loaded up and headed over to Jellystone campground. By the time we arrived, she had fallen asleep in the car, and it was raining, so it wasn't the best night. But, we got the tent all set up, got the bed prepared, and all snuggled in for a great night of toasty warm sleep.
October 11, 2014
The rain stopped overnight, so we woke up to a beautiful day. We got up and made breakfast (bacon and eggs) and then Gay Gay and Ed stopped by to bring Lizzy's fishing pole by. There were SO MANY fun events planned all day! At 10:00, she took a pot over to Yogi's cave to wake up Yogi Bear. Then Lizzy and Gay Gay and Ed played on the playground and bought some bait, then Gay Gay and Ed left for a bit.

At 11:00, we got to make a Halloween craft - a spooky picture frame!
After craft time, we did some fishing (no luck) and Daddy took Lizzy to the playground. We made lunch, then goofed off around the campground for a bit.
We took a walk back into the woods, then Gay Gay and Ed returned in time for the costume parade. The night before, while we were in our tent preparing for sleep, we took turns telling scary stories. She told a story about a Skeleton superhero named Spider Unicorn. Well, once she put on her costume, she became Spider Unicorn! The costume parade consisted of Yogi Bear leading all the kids around to all the campsites to get lots of candy! She had a great time. At the end of the parade route, we found Boo Boo!
After Trick-or-Treating, Gay Gay and Ed took her to the playground again, then they rented a paddle boat.
Ed did some fishing and caught a fish! He let Elizabeth pull it in.
Soon after, Gay Gay and Ed left and Lizzy and I took a nap in the tent while Daddy relaxed by the fire. He woke us up in time for a hayride with Yogi Bear.
After our hayride, we decided we didn't feel like cooking another meal over the fire, so we went down the road a bit to get Indian for dinner. We ate it at our picnic table, then went to hear a scary story at the main pavilion. The story culminated with a walk to the "haunted trailer" where the chainsaw guy jumped out and chased us. We warned Elizabeth what would happen, that it wasn't real and was going to be a little loud. She insisted on going. You know what - SHE LOVED IT! Other children were in tears, and she thought it was great fun and wanted to go again.
After the haunted trailer, we went back to the tent to call it a night. It had been a fun-filled day!
October 12, 2014
Since the campground is just down the road from where Gay Gay and Ed live, they met us across the street at a restaurant for breakfast. Afterwards, we broke down our camp and headed home. We spent the rest of the day unloading the car, bathing, doing laundry, and recovering from our fun weekend.
October 18, 2014
Elizabeth had done so well at the haunted trailer while camping the weekend before, that we decided to give the Children's Museum Haunted House a try. We had lunch at Chuy's first (she asked to go there so she could have chips and guacamole) and then headed downtown. We had given Lizzy the choice to go earlier in the day for the lights-on version, or the slightly more intense lights-off. She wanted to be scared!

We both were able to take the day off to go on a Field Trip with Lizzy's preschool to a local pumpkin patch. We all had a great time! There was a good educational bent to the trip, learning about farm chores, animals, and the like. Of course there was the obligatory pumpkin selection portion, but they also got to "milk" a cow, gather eggs from chickens, clean a pig pen, and bale hay (all clean, of course!)
While we were there, Daddy saw an email come across that we were eligible to buy Pro Bowl tickets, so he snapped some up. Looks like we're going to Arizona in January for the Pro Bowl!

This evening, Elizabeth was truly naughty for the first time in her nearly 3 1/2 years, and had something taken away as punishment. She LOVES her style up kit. She gets to get styled up whenever she'd like. For some reason, she thought it would be a good idea to style up the walls up the stairway with eye shadow. She understood why this was naughty, and had her style up kit taken away for 4 days. We've had a good run up until now, so if this is the worst thing she's done, I'll take it.

Elizabeth has such a tender, compassionate heart. She was listening to "Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?" with Gay Gay and Ed and began sobbing uncontrollably. The thought of a lost dog was utterly heartbreaking to her.
Today Elizabeth received something very special in the mail from Her Majesty the Queen: Her British Passport, which makes her a British Citizen. It's a formality, but it opens up a world of possibilities for her. If she wants to go to university or work in the UK, the EU, or a Commonwealth country, she doesn't need to mess with cumbersome and expensive visas. The world is open to her.
Tonight she told me that when she grows up she wants to be "A veterinarian, a dentist, and a Mommy."

Tonight was Boo Bash in Fishers, so Spider Unicorn got all dressed up and did some trick or treating.

Halloween was a bust. We went to Gay Gay and Ed's (since Daddy was away in Texas) and she ended up going to one house. The wind, snow, and sleet made it generally intolerable. She was fine with not going, though, as she'd been twice already - once while camping and again while at Boo Bash.

Elizabeth has been working a lot on writing. She's doing really well, but as any 3 year old, her writing isn't always legible. However, it's amazing to me how 3-year olds these days can type. Her favorite words to type are Lizzy, Bingo, Box, and Elsa. :o)
My Mom has taken photos each year of Lizzy with a pumpkin. Look how she's grown.

We have been so blessed that Elizabeth has been such a healthy child. I don't know if it's just natural resilience, not having her in a Day Care environment, continuing to nurse, or a combination of all of those factors. She never had the flu, ear infections, heck, she never even had diaper rash. Today was the first time I had to take her to the doctor for something other than just a simple fever. She has had a pretty bad cough for a week now, and I had given it enough time to just "let it pass." I took her to our family doctor and he said it's likely pneumonia, as he could her the junk in her lungs. However, he didn't want to send her for a confirmation x-ray and unnecessarily irradiate her when the treatment is the same as just calling it bronchitis, so her official diagnosis was acute bronchitis with bronchiospasms. She's not miserable or anything, but when she coughs it's pretty sad. So, she's got 5 days of antibiotics and breathing treatments 3 times a day, or more often if needed.
November 4, 2014
Good girl doing her breathing treatment. Yes, that is a Christmas tree in the corner. I let her put up her little tree and hang a few ornaments to cheer her up. :o)
